Iberostar Cancun Golf Club
About
Iberostar Cancun Golf Club (formerly known as Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort) sits along the beautiful Nichupte Lagoon, with it and many of its inlets bordering most of the holes. The championship course sprawls across a scenic landscape accented with tropical vegetation that is also home to a variety of wildlife. Golfers shouldn't be surprised to see colorful birds, iguanas or even a crocodile. Water naturally comes into play throughout the golf course but there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The Mayan ruins of El Rey, which date back to 500 AD, provide unique scenery on the 16th hole. The course offers a fair test that is not too intimidating for beginners but challenging enough for more seasoned players. In addition to the golf course, Iberostar Cancun also has a 25-yard practice course, a driving range, and a putting green.

Great course
Watch out for the crocs.
There are a few holes that real smell bad.
I think there is sewage treatment nearby.
The course plays really well and the starter does his best to start you on hole with no players in front of you.
Great experience
It was a great golf course with a good value. The staff was friendly. The food and beverage as part of the green fee was a good value. The scenery adds a beautiful backdrop to an already wonderful vacation experience. Also, there is a lot of interesting wildlife, including alligators and beautiful birds.
Over priced for what you get
I know there's few courses in the area...but paying $150+ for a course that's worse than the local muni is frustrating.
Resort golf
Crocodiles on the course! Cart paths are close to the water. I was watchful and still one surfaced 10 feet from me when I stopped at the tee box. It also rained while I played and they drove out and delivered to bath towels to each player! Finally, your green fees include food and drinks while you play and they bring it out to you!
Great shape, friendly staff
I played on July 27th, early morning. Very few players out so I was sent out as a single. Fairways were in great shape, front nine and 17 & 18 green were great as well. They had just sanded greens 11-16 which made them a little slower but still smooth. My Garmin recognized this as Hilton Cancun golf course and although they had some Big Break merchandise there it was the Iberostar course at Rivera Maya that they played on. Late afternoon the rates go down and you can play unlimited so if I were to go agin I would go then.
Good golf course
Fairways are in good condition the greens could do with a bit more attention very slow watering and cutting would help how ever had a good round of golf would play again
Fun Course in the Hotel Zone
The course is very convenient if you're staying in the Cancun hotel zone.
It is in pretty good shape (brown spots on fairways). However, the greens are excellent, running very true.
I enjoyed the all-inclusive part, free (prepaid anyway) lunch and drinks (beer, water & soft drinks) on the course.
Great condition
The course was in great condition, greens were smooth, fairways well maintained. The course is a bit pricey but I got a great deal. If I visit Cancun for leisure I will definitely play here again, just not for full price.
Decent course but over priced
Iberostar is a nice course, but somewhat over priced. The value is, is that it's all-inclusive...all the food and drink is included, which is nice. Location is convenient (hotel zone) and its a decent, player-friendly track. Greens roll nice and course is in good shape over-all. Staff is very friendly. Most of the other courses are farther away and cost even more.
Watch out for the Crocs!
Extremely friendly staff and one heck of a course! Watch out for the Crocodiles!
No magic
The course is ok but the staff no respect. The cost is way to much for the quality of the course. Resident have more respect than the tourist and we pay 5 time the price. But it is in the central of Cancun hotel zone. More than 5 hour game. To much beginner player.
Wonderfull View!
Great course! Many crocodiles! In the hotel zone. Only thing ; for the same price or better, there is other better course at Cancun.
Excellent course, superb staff
This is a high class golf course. The course itself is in excellent condition, and the staff are obviously very well trained. Staff were super friendly without being overbearing. It was an easy taxi ride ($12) from Secrets the Vine to the course. We're planning on going back later this week.
Quick 18 in Cancun
Played this course as across the road from my hotel (Great Parnassus). Fairly easy layout, which was ideal for me as a high handicapper, but plenty of opportunities to get the driver out. Course was in great condition and staff very friendly. Beverage cart seen every 3/4 holes which was great as it was hot. Really enjoyed and got a great deal on golfnow.com.
Iberostar Cancun
Played twice in 4 days. Wind does affect ball flight on this course. Good layout with lots of water hazards. Will play here again next time I go to Cancun. Found sand in traps nice. Not so happy with grass around greens but that is me playing on a different type of grass than I am used to. Watch out for the crocodiles near the water. Saw a few good size ones basking in and out of the water.
Great Course
Iberostar is a great course that is in great condition. It is fairly wide open and you will have a decent shot even if you miss the fairway. The cost is a little expensive from what I am use to paying in the USA, but it was worth the experience. We did not see any alligators and the areas are well fenced. I would love to play this course again when I return to Cancun.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course, well maintained, greens were in awesome condition. This is a great course for a mid handicapper. Go early to see the crocs.
Not bad.
It was closest on the strip to our hotel.
Crocodiles and iguanas were cool..
But nowhere on golfnow was there a warning that the front 9 was closed.
A real drag to come all this way and not get to play the whole thing. We played 9 twice.
They did warn us of greens aeration though... (Never seen it with a full layer of fine sand) which made green play different.
Overall we shot really good scores - it is definitely an easier course...
Great holiday golf !
The greens were being airated so we played the first 9 twice which was great as we have played the full course many times and personally I prefer the first 9.
Very relaxed and friendly open fun course even for a beginner. My golf has improved since getting used to this course.
The Staff made the Difference
Had a beautiful day and a fairly empty course in the afternoon to play. We started on back nine which is much tighter than the front. We were also becoming disappointed because we hadn't seen a crocodile during the back. We had been warned about them and there are many signs around. We were richly rewarded as the front nine was much more enjoyable for lower skilled players such as ourselves and we saw three crocs of varying sizes. The staff was fantastic with the beverage cart showing up just when a refreshment was in order. Overall a 5 Star experience.
