Riviera Maya Golf Club - Championship Course
About
Riviera Maya Golf Club has been ranked as one of the top five golf courses in Mexico. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Championship Course winds through lush Mayan jungle. Natural lakes also dot the scenic landscape. Being so close to the ocean, wind definitely comes into play, especially on the tough par-3 second hole, which plays directly into the prevailing winds. If you are able to keep your shots in the fairway, you'll surely be rewarded with a good lie and a challenging, but fair approach. Jones carefully carved the golf course from the deepest part of a limestone quarry, spreading the fairways across treacherous jungle growth that is just waiting to swallow up errant shots. In addition to the championship layout, there is also an Executive Course that is one of the best nine-hole golf courses in the Rivera Maya.

Tough track
Good value for the area. Fun, tough course to play. you will want to do the replay. Bring plenty of balls because the jungle will swallow them.
Not Up To PGA Standards - IMO
With the PGA name tagged onto this course, we thought it would be in much better condition. The course was beautiful, but a little rough around the edges. The difficulty of the course was about what we expected, but, again, could have used some TLC. The course was overbooked, with several groups slated at the same time as us, so lots of confused players at the first tee. Good rental clubs, but things not clearly laid out - thankfully we were paired up with a regular patron.
Stunning Course. Quite busy
Course is extremely nice, the only problem is there is no marshals around to monitor pace of play. It’s a stunning course, but pace of play very slow. That’s expected for a tourist course though.
Tee Time Booking
We booked an 11:30 tee time, however, when we arrived the course would not honour the time booked through Golf Now and would not accommodate our time and scheduled us for twilight time. When questioned about the booking confusion the course simply said that they do not honour Golf Now tee times as Golf Now “over books” the times. A fellow Golf Now customer also had the same issue and was moved to the twilight time. Less then 24 hours so we could not cancel and get full refund so we had no choice but two play 3 hours later in the day which affected our plans on our holiday for that day. No communication from Golf Now or PGA Maya Riveria about confusion of times. Be aware when booking through Golf Now to double check your time at the golf course.
Course is nice, service is muni level
Course is pretty and unique. In good but not great shape. Food and drinks at the turn were good. Real fruit blended for tropical drinks.
However, they never answered their phone, the cart staff basically never touched my clubs, the practice range was closed without notice.
For the price, I was expecting a classier experience
Fun course, Well Kept, Enjoyable Day
This course was fun. It has character. The fairways are generous, but no room for error on either side. If you miss the fairway, your ball is lost. It’s a challenging course but playable for everyone from the appropriate tee box. Greens rolled true at a reasonable pace for an enjoyable round. the staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend playing this course if you’re in the area.
Fairways and greens are like a smooth carpet!
Beautiful!
Very good track
Very good track, reasonably priced with TeeOff app., would be interested in purchasing property with membership
AMAZING
What a wonderful experience and beautiful course. From the staff that checked us in to the food we ate. It is definitely the best course I have ever experienced. I am grateful for everyone that has a role in making this course what it is. Absolutely everything and everyone was what I describe as perfect! Thank you.
She’s tight
I played this course twice, once from the white and from the tips. Had more success from the tips as it brought less trouble into play. I drive the ball 260-285. Bring lots of balls lots! If you’re a tight and tidy golfer who drives it 200 up the pipe every time, you’ll do well here. Greens are in amazing condition. And roll exceptionally well. My only dislike (besides my score)I played in the afternoon both times. They must water frequently, I had a ball plug, most every other ball had mud on it and minimal roll on drives.
Fun
We had a great day of golf, pace was good, course was in great condition!
