Surprise, Surprise!
I got a great hot deal at Vidanta Nayar and overall had a great experience. I took an Uber to the course no problem but beware you cannot take Uber to get out of the course. Uber is not allowed on the property to pick you up. All the staff are great from the pro shop to the starter. The second surprise was at the pro shop where I first learned that caddies are mandatory on the Nayar course. Every t-time has to have a caddy and it is currently 800 pesos split amongst the foursome, threesome or twosome. It has to be paid in cash at the end of the round. They have a bank machine right in the pro shop in case you’re short of pesos. The caddy is a good idea though, because without it, you would never know where you were going on the course. If it’s your first time there be prepared for a maze of paths winding through the property. Make sure you get there with plenty of time to spare because when you get dropped off by your Uber/taxi you need to then take a shuttle to get to the pro shop and that takes a bit of time. I still had lots of time to warm up on the range and they have an excellent putting and chipping area as well. your caddy joined you on the range and then you’re off to play. even with the “surprises” I’m still glad I went.
Good for the price in Mexico.
Played vidanta nayar, course was in great condition. Beers were exspensive but to be expected in Mexico. Got a great deal on golf now. Would tell you what I paid but I might never get that deal again. Hopefully playing the Norman next round, apparently a better track.
Vidanta better organized this year than last year!
Last year it took us 40 minutes to get from the security gate to the pro shop. This time, we got picked up by a shuttle immediately! Unfortunately, we were now early because of the previous year fiasco. Once again, they had no golf carts due to the 5 hour plus rounds on the Norman course. We ended up parked with no cart at the driving range waiting for our tee time. The Nayer course was obviously mostly an older track, but fun to play. Our caddie (Jose) was a great green reader and the course was in decent shape for this time of year. My wife and I both shot in the 70s. We also got a smoking good deal on the green fee from GolfNow!
Layout
It seems like they forgot that they needed space for 18 holes. We drove what seemed like 2 miles to play 7 and 8 then drove back to play 9. Very odd.
Nice course
Course is beautiful and forgiving. Definitely would not be able to navigate from hole to hole without a caddy. Somome complained in another reviewer about 2 holes being 15 minutes away? I believe they are talking about holes 6 and 7? More like 5 minutes.
Incredible
Fantastic Golf. World class facility and the caddies are very good. Not annoying to have with you at all. Conditions were great. Zero complaints except my score
Fun day of golf
Yes, there are some goofy aspects to this course as some other reviewers have noted. In particular: takes a long time to through the resort and to the course, long drives between some holes (nice break and a breeze though through beautiful grounds), and the layout is odd at times (400 yard par 5?). However, the course was in great shape, caddy (Gabriel) was awesome (good jokes, shaved a few strokes off my round thanks to his reads of the greens) and the course was fun to play. Pace of play was about 4 hour 30 minutes.
Will be back next time I am in town for sure.
A MUST PLAY WHILE IN PV
A GREAT TRACK TO TEST YOUR SKILLS ON VERY WELL MAINTAINED
Nayar is good value
Played this track now 3 times and is one of the courses in the area to play of course
Nayar course VALLARTA
This course is pretty reasonable for a Mexican course for quality. One thing that Golf Now does not do for subscribers is post or advise on quality like "greens have been recently punched so sanded and slow" or things like "cart path only all holes". This course was ok for carts but 9 holes were punched. The course did not advise on check in either. I had a similar experience in Palm Desert.
The course is challenging enough. The layout is weird now as the PGA has demanded some hole changes for an scheduled Tour event. This has created weird configurations and lots of driving to holes. The course does not flow and there are different design concepts between front and back holes.
Disappointed
Very confusing layout. We had to drive almost 15 minutes to a remote area just to play 2 holes and then back the same distance to resume play. Our garmin watches could not locate some of the holes because they were played out of sequence. Some of the greens had just been aerated and we weren’t notified or offered a discount like most courses do. The cab ride was almonds 25 o/o more on the return trip home with no option.
