Needs improvement
I play here a lot. It is one of my favorite venues in Puerto Vallarta.
However the property is undergoing major construction. Frankly the entire place is a mess. The course isn't much better. Ragged greens, temporary holes, plowed up fairways etc. I'd pass on this course until the work is done.
On the bright side, great staff and amenities.
Fun
The course was in great shape as usual. What makes this course not great is the distance between a set of holes that I just can't remember. The distance was like a 5 min. cart ride over the bridge. Definitely not a course to walk.

Paid for the rounds via golfnow. Go to check-in and have no issue until I go to the cart and the starter mentions I would have to play the front twice as the back took too much punishment from the rains the night before. Why couldn't the cashier tell me this? I went in to ask if it would be possible to play the other course which was cheaper (granted for a later time 2pm vs 11am) since no one was on the course and I mean no one. She wouldn't budge. Most courses that aerate provide you discounted fees why couldn't the accommodate us. As for the forced caddies, first off they should be competent green readers and having only one caddie for the 3 of us is ridiculous.
Nayar Course
Had a tee time at 10:45am through Golf Now, arrived at the pro shop and was told the golf course was closed until 1pm because it was too wet from the rain overnight and in the morning. I was told I could check in now but if it began to rain again and they had to shut down the course I probably wouldn’t be able to get a refund from golf now because it showed that I checked in... I didnt really have any other choice so I checked in and ate some breakfast at the restaurant right next door to the pro shop (best chilaquiles of my life!) then checked in with the started and was assigned a Caddie, Luis. (FYI the caddie is mandatory and is 400 pesos for a single) Luis drove me to the range where I warmed up for an hour. The range is nothing special, neither is the putting green just a small green that is flat. Very first person on the course, teed off right at 1pm as a solo, finished in 2.5 hours. The course was surprisingly NOT that wet for the amount of rain it received. Not all but some of the bunkers however were unplayable because they were flooded with water. The course is pretty easy, I shot a 78 (and double bogeyed the last hole... smh) when I usually shot around 85. My caddie Luis was great, he would use a range finder and tell you the distance for every shot and was spot on reading the greens! Also saw lots of wildlife, multiple birds, iguanas everywhere, sometimes crossing the fairways, and even a small crocodile. Overall I would recommend this course if you can get a hot deal, in my opinion it would be overpriced to pay the regular rate. Staff at Vidanta we’re all very helpful and friendly, thanks for a great day of golf!
Playing a Mexican Postcard
I played this course years ago when it was the Mayan Palace course. They have poured a lot of money into it, adding flowers and trees everywhere. They have cleaned up the many lakes which are now pristine with birds, turtles and iguanas in abundance. The fairways are wide and lush. Although the course has its challenges, it is not a difficult course. The women’s tees are far forward and mostly avoid hazards. Our caddie spoke excellent English and was knowledgeable. Be sure to get a golfnow rate as it can be pricey. And enjoy a scenic round!
Nayar Course
For early April the course was in great shape. Sand traps lacked sand. The required caddy was very helpful and good a reading the greens. The way the course is set up you need a caddy to find your way to the next hole, ha. Staff is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. All-in-all I really like to play this course.
Course layout was time consuming
First time playing this course today. Tee'd off at 12:30 with 3 other players and finished at around 4:45 pm. Pace was slow because of my pairings. We was assigned to a Caddy, amazing person, but I didn't find any value in his service as a Caddy...very adifficult for one person to take care of 4 players. No cart GPS and the course was not on my Garmin GSP. Course only have a few water coolers. Bottled water is at cost. Knowledging all this I will play again.
Golden bear in NV
We love the Vidanta property and Jack and Greg’s courses! Our special caddie, Julio and our drink master, Rosie add to the great experience. Looking forward to playing again this winter!
Vidanta golf
Great day once you get onto the course. My tee time was delayed because 3 member booked but didn’t show up. Seems that members can do that without penalty. Doesn’t seem right. I had to wait until I could matched with another later group.
Today’s Golf
Actually played with 3 other Canadians. Had a great time!
Gets a little expensive
First you tip the car valet that has to drive you to the club house, then beer and a drink for the caddie, and tip the cart girl, tip for caddie and then tip the guy that has to drive you back to your car. $65 to Gofnow, another $65 in beer & tips.
Have to go back
We really enjoyed this course. It offered a wide variety of hole layouts, challenging water holes, and lots of sand. The course winds through the Vidanta site giving the players many different looks at the surroundings. We will go back again.
Spectacular
Played here with my son and his two friends. The course and staff were great!! Fabulous day! The caddie was very helpful and worked hard to help us in joy the round.
Caddies worth it .
Course keeps changing layout according to regular I played with . Caddies are pros , trust their putting advice and fairway placement suggestions . Also caddies earn their living from your fee so a little extra goes along way . They are not pushy about it at all . Very appreciative of your fee. Very friendly !
Pro shop staff brings down friendly rating down a bit :(
Golf now rate defineltly a good deal versus rack rate :)
Too easy
For the first time, this course is for beginners there is no challenge, normally a Niklaus course are much challenging.if you are a beginner this is the right place, nice conditions but too flat easy course, a bit expensive!
Not sure why
I booked a tee time for 10;13 for 4 people when I had to remove one person somehow we got switched to 11;41
don’t bother
We booked the Nichols course and they put us on the “other course” very average. no amenities could not get a drink or food the whole round... We got to look at the other course looked like a good track people looked fed and watered. As for us... Suckville.
