The price was very reasonable through Golf Now,
Average Golf Course- below average for a Jack Nickalus Course, not very challenging for good golfers- ok for average golfers
Great value with Hot Deals
The course was in great shape and the caddy was excellent. Caddies are an additional mandatory charge.
Played the round in 3 hours with 3 of us playing a scramble.
Overrated
Again Golfnow Came through with a Great Rate of $48.00 Bucks and that’s all its worth. Not a Penny More. Its a Nice Track with very Fast Greens. The Warm Area Was Probably The Worst Ive Seen In Mexico. They Don’t want You To hit a Lot of Balls. The Putting and Chipping Area Is Almost Non-existing. The Rushed my Tee-Time 25 Minutes Early and I was Only able to hit about 15 balls Even Though I was a 1 hour and 15 minutes early for my Tee-Time. The Worst Was The Pace Of Play. They Just Want The Money. We Consistently had 3 Groups on One hole for the whole Round. You’re Forced To Take Caddies and you probably Need them if you haven’t played there before Because the Lay-out Is Very Confusing. If You hadn’t played there before and didn’t have a Caddy, You’d Get Lost. If You Pay The Rack-Rate of $ 200.00 You’d Really be Pisssed. They Tell Me The Norman Course is Much Better and More Expensive. The Hot-Deals are Over $100.00
First Round, Last of this Layout
Take note that the layout of this course is changing January 2, 2018 as some holes are retired to allow for expansion (pictures are of holes which will remain).
The course condition is great and the rate, compared to others around it, is well worth it.
The caddy I had knew the course layout well and the yardages to hazards almost exactly. Fairly good with green reading assistance and always wanting to take your clubs from you. I rarely golf with a caddie but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Definitely need a caddy due to the course layout but new holes are being worked on maybe to improve this? A friendly course...not punishing.
Best score of my life. How could I not like it? Will bring many friends to play. Thank you GolfNow.com!!
Decent Nicolous desighn
We recently played at Nicolous design course at Valarta Nueve Valarta. The course is decent, well maniqured, with a decent layout.
Course is not amongst the best Jack Nicolous design courses, even compared other courses in mexico.
Besides it’s price high if you consider other courses in the area are 1/3 the price. It’s priced for tourist, staying at the resort who’ll pay anything.
Average
The Nicklaus course is not up to the standards of a normal Nicklaus course. The layout has been altered to accommodate expansion of the resort. Course maintenance is substandard. Bunkers need work, the short course had better maintained bunkers. I would play again, but with lowered expectations.
Fun Resort Course
Great experience overall. Staff was friendly and my caddie (Jose) was awesome. Course and the green were a good shape. Course is huge, so I can see why a caddie was mandatory. Wouldn't pay full price but if you can get a Hot Deal, definitely worth it.
Challenging. Huge distances between greens to next tees.
Nice staff.
Mandatory caddy @ $23 plus
great experience
Sweet layout, awesome overall experience, very friendly staff and knowledgeable caddie but definitely wouldn't pay full price (I imagine most golf now users usually don't anyway) if you want golf in the area I can't imagine you could do better than this course.
It gets a little balmy so probably leave your mock turtlenecks at home.
Hot deal
Course was in great shape
Layout takes you all over
A caddie a must or you would get lost
Greens true and fast
It's nanditory to take a caddie which was fine
Overall if you don't get a hot deal it' not the best course for the price
Late Season Play
Fun course to play. Fairly open. We played from the white tees. Fairways and greens in excellent shape although some greens had been punched. Mid-May so pace was great. Only thing holding us back were our own shots. Finished in undies four hours.
Terrible greens
They had just replugged the greens, the greens were so bad our caddie said 2 put maximum. We should have been warned about this before we booked. This course has the worst layout of any course I have ever played. It takes 10 minutes to Drive to the 1st hole, and that's only the beginning. At several points we had to Drive across other fairways to get to the next hole
Poorest layout ever
I can't believe this is a jack Nicklaus layout. You drive at least a mile from the pro shop to the driving range and the first hole. Several times you have to drive miles of road to get to the next hole. Holes one, nine, ten and eighteen are miles from the clubhouse. Totally bizarre. No way you would find your way around this course without help. However, the tees, fairways, and greens were in wonderful condition. I loved hitting off those fairways. The price to play here is ridiculous as it is at all courses here in Puerto Vallarta.
Fun resort course
Great staff and caddies .A scoreable layout that fits the resorts clientele.Conditions are always average. The Norman on the property is more difficult but a boring layout for more money. The Vidanta Nicklaus Puerto Penasco course is great value as it is one of the worlds great oceanside courses.
A Low End Jack Nicklaus Course.
This course is touted as a Jack Nicklaus course. If is really is, I doubt Mr. Nicklaus has ever seen it before. It is, was, a total disappointment. I have played many Nicklaus courses before, including Vista Vallarta which is a Nicklaus course and this was way too predictable and boring for a Nicklaus course.
The restrooms were almost nonexistent, The course appears to be too neglected, giving me the feeling they are trying to "Milk it dry".
Not Impressed
When we were invited to join other couples, all members, on a golf outing at this Resort Course we were excited. Upon getting to the warm up range, the disappointments began. The course is not well maintained. The greens were in terrible condition. A staff member and a note in the pro shop attempted to blame a lack of sunshine during the rainy season as the cause of the poor greens. Other areas of the course showed signs of needed maintenance. The hole layout was confusing at best, had we not had a caddie to offer directions on green to the next tee, we would have gotten lost more than once. The caddie was excellent, providing accurate hitting yardages, positive advise, spot on club suggestions, and good reads of the terrible greens. The course design is excellent, just not in the good condition one would anticipate (expect) from Nicklaus course at a Resort.
