Gran Coyote Golf Riviera Maya
About
Situated just minutes from Playa del Carmen, the Gran Coyote Golf Riviera Maya (formerly known as Grand Coral Riviera Maya) snakes through dense Mayan jungle with scenic glimpses of the Caribbean Sea throughout. The designer, Nick Price, laid heavy emphasis on having the most minimal environmental impact as possible while still providing a fair and challenging round. He even employed a team of biologists and environmental consultants to determine how to minimize water consumption and protect the native wildlife. Price carefully preserved and incorporated the native vegetation into the golf course so that it blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. The dense jungle comes into play along the fairways, requiring some accuracy to maneuver or else you'll surely lose a ball. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers lurking near the greens.

a great day of golf with my dad
It was just a wonderful day with my dad... And we got to see a crocodile.
Good time at the coyote!
Great course, great staff, excellent course for players of all abilities.
Great golf
The course was very scenic and in very good condition. The greens are large and putt true. The staff is courteous and very helpful.
Great place to play.

Great great golf course!!
Had the pleasure of playing grand coyote in July of this year! I’m a scratch golfer currently and have played professionally in the past, so I played for the tips. This is a very challenging golf course from that yardage which requires accuracy and precise iron shots into greens if you are going to score well. I hope they consider hosting a PGA tour Monday qualifier for the Mayokoba golf classic in the future as this venue would test the skills of the best players in the world.
Gran Coral soon to be Gran
Great course have played there a few times. Golf Now had a great deal. A lot better than the deal I could get staying on property thru my time share. The course has always been in great shape with a Nick Faldo design could you ask for more? Thanks for the round Golf Now. And kudos to Gran Coral for their hospitality and superb Course Management.
Beautiful Course amazing Staff
We were staying next next door . It was the cheapest I could find in The area. I was a little apprehensive due to price but couldn’t be further from the truth. Course layout is great not too difficult beautiful greens very friendly staff. If Your in Playa Del Carmen check it out but name now changed to Gran Cayote .
Given that its a zillion degrees out its not exactly busy golf season in Mexico, so other than a twosome who went out 30 mins before me, the grounds staff working on a few holes and the beverage cart operator I didn't see another person for 4 hours, which made for a peaceful and relaxing round. The course is in great shape as are the greens. This course is fun but not too challenging, with lots of room to miss and rough that is only a bit longer than the fairway, so isn't too punishing if you do end up somewhere you don't want to be. There is some water on a few holes but it isn't a big factor on most. Overall I'd say its ideal "vacation golf" in that the course is pretty & in great shape but when you go back to your hotel you aren't totally beat up and you feel pretty darn good about yourself. Rental clubs are TM Aeroburner or for a few bucks more 2017 TM M2. Curiously there was no sand or lob wedge in the M2 set, which for $75 USD I would have expected, but this is a minor gripe. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the range and other facilities were nice too. As another reviewer mentioned yardage signs on the range would be helpful. Overall I had a great day and would return without hesitation
This course is not challenging
The course is well manicured but not challenging wide open with some bunkers and water not in play. Pace of play was very good as the course was not busy, we were a twosome and finished in just under four hours. It was such a hot day and was only given two bottles of water for just a few $ more we played at anorher course where transportation, food and drinks was included, throughout the 18 holes and meals / drinks at the restaurant after our game.
Will not recommend as there is better value offered by other courses eg shuttle, drinks and meals included.
Great course!
Really nice course, greens a little firm but not as quick as I would’ve thought, traveling in from out of town I didn’t find any information on green fee, equipment rental, rider fees (for non-players), I would suggest the golf course needs to make that information public as it seems skeptical when you’re arriving from a foreign country and it almost seems as if they are trying to take advantage of you for not knowing the language. If that information was made public it would better suite everyone. Equipment rental was $55 USD (Taylor-made burners slightly beat up, and it didn’t come with anything you needed to play such as golf balls which they sold for $18 for a dozen of used golf balls. Friendly staff and had zero complaints about them or really the course in general. I would recommend this course to anyone! Had a ton of fun and the course is challenging from the tips!
Always the best
Always wanted to golf in Mexico..... then I found the Grand Coral. Value for the money is great, the staff is so friendly and helpful, and the equipment is great quality. (I rented clubs). This is only my second time here but the course seemed in even better condition and best yet is that I found a great deal on GolfNow!
Wow!!!
Played this course 3 times in 5 days. Fairways are pretty generous and the greens were fantastic.!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Glenn Doyle, director of golf, for giving me a break on the cost of my second and third rounds. Highly recommend this course and will be sure to go back next time I am back in Playa del Carmen.
Nice Surprise
Heard mixed review but it seems they have made a concerted effort to get this track into excellent condition. Staff was best we’ve met and n Playa. Played for $100 hours n my opinion much better value than Hard Rock. Carts can be an issue in Mexico but these were excellent, ice and water in cooler.
Coyote
Great driving range.. loved the pyramid of different colored noodle balls.. had nice variety of flags to aim at... staff very friendly... course was in good shape.. greens a little on the slow side but def great value for money.. paid 100 bucks on hot deal golf now... i use to play at playacar now known as the hardrock.. i still prefer it but they don't offer the deals they use to .. as nice as all the courses are i'm still not prepared to pay over 150 a round.. will be playing coyote tomorrow again..
Great golf at a reasonable price
I played on Tuesday and enjoyed the course so much that I came back on Thursday. A very nice course. Good design; challenging but not overwhelming. The greens were almost perfect.
Great plyable Golf Course
Greens were perfect, staff friendly, perfect job in sand traps, just the good amount of sand with a good base. Practice facility would need some range numbers. Book through TeeOff App and got a great rate....a 300$ day for 81$ !!!! Played at 12:30
